Overview of My Feature Film…
This story was inspired by true events that took place at a boarding school in a non-regulated state. When stories like this arise, we choose to falsify the victims encounters to benefit our society. We choose to shut our eyes and ears to the evil in order to protect our understanding of humanity. But these stories are real, the people are real, and the film, in its entirety, covers many of the issues that need to be seen by our eyes and fixed by our hands.
Directors Vision…
This story was inspired by a brave soul who trusted me with his vulnerability. As the Writer and Director of the film, I come wholeheartedly with a mission to shed light on the inhumane treatment of the young men and women who attended boarding schools in non-regulated states across America. This film will hopefully serve as a catapult into the discussion that needs to take place in formulating justice for those who have been victimized. Anyone who watches this film will hopefully walk away feeling the same need for justice. The film does have a light at the end of its darkness, but I want it to still convey the realness of these kids’ lives. Most of whom grew up and ended their own lives, turned to drugs, or are in really bad situations, with no chance for a happy ending. Devil’s Elbow, with no doubt, falls into a semi-fictional Drama; therefore, I plan to shoot with a heavy ratio of dark and light compositions, which will reflect the mood of the script in its entirety. Basically, capturing the battle between light and dark.
